1、耐磨損涂層。包括抗粘著磨損、表面疲勞磨損涂層和耐沖濁涂層。其中有些情況還有抗低溫（<538C）磨損和抗高溫（538～843C）磨損涂層之分。

2、耐熱抗氧化涂層。該種涂層包括高溫過程（其中有氧化氣氛、腐蝕性氣體、高于843℃的沖蝕及熱障）和熔融金屬過程（其中有熔融鋅、熔融鋁、熔融鐵和鋼、熔融銅）所應用的涂層。
